The "Game" is never played on paper...

Posted on: April 21, 2008 12:41 pm

6-13.

OUCH!

Even with all my years of experience following baseball, it seems that I cannot learn that lesson.

The "Game" is never played on paper...

It is even more likely for a fan to fall all over in mad love with his or her hometown ballclub when you have a couple of big deals in the off-season and your team is coming off a couple of succesful seasons.

This doesn't mean that the Tigers will not recover but this is not the kind of start that you ever want or expect from a title contender.

Oh, and if Sports Illustrarted never picks us to even win a division again, let alone the World Series, I'll be fine with that.

NOW LETS GO TIGERS!

The Blue Jays in the infinite grace gave the Tigers a win this afternoon bringing the Detroit record to a sizzling 7-13.  A win is a win.

Bring on Texas!  Maybe the Tigers can continue the Rangers' slide.

The "Game" is never played on paper...

Baseball is the hardest game to predict what will happen.  In comparison the NFL and NBA is easy.
Its a long season and in baseball the team you see in April is not the team you will see in September.
Championships arent won in April.  The Yankess are 10-10 and anyone who thinks they arent going to be
in the middle of a run to the playoffs is mistaken.  The Tigers will also make their playoff run, and I wouldnt be
surprised to see them take the AL Central Division.  Stay tuned, there is a lot of baseball left to be played
and the Tiger team you see now is the worst your get from them, their best is yet to come.

looks like their best is comin soon. their pitching still has yet to solidify but a 19-6 win over the rangers and 11 runs in the 6th today was nice.  Granderson had a nice debut (2-4 2 RBI 3 runs) to go along with a monster offensive day, but the only negative part to this was Kenny Rogers who didnt get the lost but even played worse than the bullpen.

I think everyone knew the bats would wake up but what about the starting pitching? Right now the only pitchers who can perfom are Verlander and minor leaguers.  Hopefully Bonderman Willis and Rogers turn into what they once were, or the bats might be needed too much.  Hopefully Willis's bad start was due to his injury.

Baseball is the most statistical sport in America, or perhaps even the world.  I hate how people predict the averages and the number of home runs.  It's just a bunch of crap in my mind.   I think ESPN did pick the Tigers to go to the World Series, but they had them losing to the Cubs.   I  still think the Tigers will at least make the Championship Game.  Probably going to be Mets vs. Tigers.
